" It was a birthday party The Queen would have been proud of.” The Press & Journal, 1st July 2006.

With an all star line up featuring world renowned classical singer Katherine Jenkins along with many other international and Scottish artists, this “truly Scottish evening” in the grounds of Her Majesty’s private retreat, Balmoral Castle, saw thousands turn out to celebrate her 80th birthday. Presented by BBC Radio 2’s Ken Bruce the spectacular open air concert was the first of its kind ever to be staged at this prestigious venue.

The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, Fiona Kennedy, Celtic Dancers, mass pipes and drums and The Graham Geddes Scottish Dance Band were all magnificent along with a breathtaking aviation display by the 2Excel Aviation team.

Most importantly, the whole event raised an amazing £80,000 for The Anthony Nolan Trust to help take back lives from leukaemia. For further information about the work of this important charity please visit www.anthonynolan.org.uk.
