“Just a wee note to let you know what a great day my daughter and I had on Sunday. We both thought the day was well organised and very interesting. We also had a look round the museum (the great weather helped). Well worth the entrance fee, compared to other shows we have been to this year.”

Annie Bett – Visitor at the show.

Thousands turned out in the glorious sunshine to step back in time for an action packed day of equestrian glory celebrating the decades horses have played an important part in our lives both in recreation and industry. From Shetland to Clydesdale horses visitors were transported through the ages of horse power and sampled the delights of both traditional and modern day equestrian sports.

The gentle giants of the horse world from Strathorn Farm Stables displayed their majestic nature under side saddle and were driven in a pair to give children’s rides round the main arena. Riding and driving for the disabled ponies delighted onlookers as they performed. Traditional wheelwright Ian Grant demonstrated his professional skills passed down through generations. And local celebrity and much loved donkey “Porridge” was on hand to speak to all his adoring fans.

Western Riding, Horse Trials Driving, Pony Club Games with the team from Aberdeenshire branch of the Pony Club and the Ladyleys Chicklets Drill Ride Team all added to the fantastic displays. Strongman Steve Evans took on the heavies in the “man against horse competition” and the amazing Eagles Vaulting Team showed off their skills in the main arena.

Back by popular demand this lovely day provided a fantastic atmosphere and was enjoyed by all.
